Yes, We Are Alive

Sorry to go MIA, but the last month has kicked my *ss.

We are in "the new big house" now and not missing our cozy apartment at all. My parents came for the move to help with the logistics and distract the kids. Good thing because, as is always the case in my life, everything happened at once. We closed on a Thursday, the kids' 3rd B-day was that Saturday and then Easter was Sunday. The movers came Tuesday and we had to be out of the apartment on Wednesday.
Then the fun started. The plumbing backed up. Not once but three times. Seems the builders forgot to connect the house to the city sewerage. After a few days of it draining into the ground, it all (raw sewerage!) came back...into the toilets, tubs, showers, sinks! The worse part was it happened at 10pm all three times! So of course nothing could be done until the next day. The city said it was the builder's job to fix, the builder said it was the city's. After going over 24 hours without plumbing with 4 adults in the house, they finally fixed it one week after it all started! So much raw sewerage was pumped into the ground that you can still smell it at the end of the driveway. What a great first impression the Sanderfords made.

The kids love their big boy beds in their new room upstairs. Quite an adjustment for everyone. I'm just loving the hike to the second floor for "more water", "another kiss", "stop jumping on the beds!", etc...well at least I'm finally getting some exercise.

There are 19 kids on our cul-de-sac, so there's never a shortage of friends, but Christian and Alexander are in love with the 5 year old and 3 year old boys that live across the street from us. My babies are definitely boys now. Bittersweet.

Getting settled here, but I still miss Murphy.

More to come...
