Wow it's been 4 months. Here's my list of excuses:
The holidays

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, Edward Cullen

I've been lazy
So what have you missed?
We survived Ike by fleeing to Murphy. Luckily we had no property damage, so it really was a good "vacation" for us. Murray's sister and family came for Thanksgiving and we had a great visit. Christian and Alexander loved playing with their cousins. Unfortunately both boys were sick for Christmas, but my sister came the week after and I got to spend a lot of time with her. January was fairly uneventful, which isn't a bad thing. So now we are already in February. See, you didn't miss much. A few other tidbits...
I'm Room Mom for the boys' preschool class. It started out with major drama. Drama in preschool. I can't wait to see what Kindergarten brings. One mom felt the need to micro manage and blow everything out of proportion. I gave her my best "Go with the flow Grasshopper" smile and then ended up taking care of most of it after she admitted she had over filled her plate. Another mom quit after crying (yes, with tears) on my shoulder about not being able to handle the stress of her life after her assistant quit. Her "life assistant"...no she didn't have a job. I suggested she find another "life assistant" in the wine aisle at Kroger, but I guess she needed more help than that. The last mom decided the room mom position was an administrative nightmare and she didn't need the aggravation. So without having to consult with 3 other people I've managed to supply the snack on time every time. I amaze myself with what I am capable of. Next I might challenge myself and try providing snack AND juice.
Christian and Alexander love preschool, especially chapel. Of course they love the bible stories with action, especially David and the Giant. They reenact that one a lot. When that gets old they switched to David and Cruella de Ville. A villain is a villain, right? Christian often reminds us that God loves us. He's so taken with Our Father that he asked for a God costume. Spiderman and Iron Man may be superheroes, but I guess they don't quite have the powers Christian is looking for. If you find the costume can you also look for the "Joshua and the Battle of Jericho" underwear Alexander has been asking for. I'm thinking the boys may have identified an untapped market: Bible Wear. Samson and Delilah hair accessories? Noah's Ark rain boots? Jonah and the Whale swimsuits?
When not in religious instruction the boys are also learning about dinosaurs, the weather, and how to spell their names. Alexander loves to yell A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R and fast as he can. Alexander says it so often that when you ask Christian to spell his name he says C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N-D-E-R.
While they are at preschool I've been enjoying kid-free shopping and going for coffee with my neighbor Tanna. She's smart, funny and sometimes keeps me company when Murray goes out of town. In return I've forced her to ignore her family while reading the Twilight series, and to become addicted to Facebook. Clearly I'm a good influence on her.
So that's about it here. Next month my parents are coming for a few weeks. Yep, you read that right...weeks. They are coming for the boys' 4th birthday and to baby-sit them while Murray and I go to Vienna, Austria for a few days. Except for a quick trip to Mexico for a wedding a couple years ago, Murray and I haven't had a vacation with just the two of us since way before the kids were born. He's been working a lot and traveling too much, so this is perfect timing. I'm thinking Austria in March will be cold. I'll be sure to wear my Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors outerwear.
