I know what you're thinking...religion?...from Jamie? Not quite, but I got your attention.
Ever since I can remember there has been a person, usually a woman, in my life with a Christ-based name. Best friend growing up was Christina, roommate in college was Kristen, closest friend the first time I lived in Houston was Kristin, co-worker at my favorite job was Christina (who is indirectly responsible for how I found Murray), and two good friends in Murphy are Kristy and Kristi. Then there was that hot hook-up post college...Chris (I need a moment here....ahh...OK.) There are more, but these are the most significant in my life. Part of the reason my first born is named Christian is my belief that it's no coincidence so many Christ-based names have "followed" me. Good omen. Now I know what you kill-joys are thinking..."Christ-based names are popular, I know several myself, blah, blah." Quit it! I'd rather believe something cool is going on in my life.
All this to say...I met my first friend in Spring. And guess what her name is...Christy! Good omen indeed!
She's my age, lives close to our new house, and is also a stay at home mom. Her 2 year old is Zach (although Christian calls him Ax), and her almost 4 year old is Peri (she was in pre-school that day.) We met at the park and had a good first conversation. She recommended a pediatrician and an obgyn, and gave me her contact info so we could get the kids together next week. So far so good.
OK, now I will treat you to Christian's world of words....
Al-U-zander is Alexander
pouch is pout
angels muffin is English Muffin
Sentence this morning at breakfast..."Al-U-zander, don't pouch! Mommy give you more angels muffin."
