So I have a blog now. Thanks for the push Bekah. Wanted to share the highs and lows of our transition to Houston (technically Spring.)
We are in corporate housing about 3 miles from our house. So we are getting used to the same roads, stores, parks, etc. that we'll be using once we're in our house.
Alexander calls the apartment our "new little house." He says we'll live in our new big house when the men stop banging on the walls (contruction on the house.) In the meantime he wants to meet our current neighbors: the biker that lives upstairs from us that paces the apartment at midnight, the large Mexican family that parks their beat up van next to us, and the post college girls that have LOTS of late night visitors. I think we'll wait for the new big house to borrow a cup of sugar.
First order of business was to find the Mall! The Woodlands Mall is a lot like Stonebriar. Kid friendly with a great play area, extensive food court (lots of chicken nugget options), a petstore with puppies (first I've seen in TX), and a Children's Museum. There is also a waterway with ferry rides and a trolly that takes people from the Mall to Market Street (like Shops at Legacy.) Jackpot!
Today we hit the park and tomorrow it's Pump It Up. There are lots of trees here, which is pretty, but harder to find things since everything is "nestled." Lots of sudden stops, last minute turns and u-turns. The kids think it's great! Alexander says "geesh!" a lot and Christian likes to yell "whoa!" Backseat drivers!
They are having a little trouble adjusting. No surprise there. We're still working out the kinks at naptime and bedtime. The hardest part is getting them to understand that we don't live in Murphy anymore and that we aren't "going home." Everywhere we go they look for their friends and ask when playgroup is. Alexander says he's sad because his house is gone and Christian just cries in frustration when I tell him he can't go outside and play with Liam, or meet Stefani at the mall, or go to baby Addy's house. Breaks my heart and only adds to my own sadness.
I don't want to end on a downer so here are some high-lights of the last few days...
We set off the fire alarm in the apartment because the dryer wasn't connected properly and it was venting into the laundry closet.
1:30 am Sat. night/Sunday morning the power went out until 10:30 the next morning! It was pitch black and muggy with only the sound of Murray snoring to remind me where I was.
Alexander had a diaper explosion in Denny's Sunday morning. I pity the next kid that used that booster seat.
Alexander seeing the Wachovia bank under construction and yelling "there's my new house!"
So that's about it for now. Hope all is well there. Miss you all so much!!!!!!

i love how you guys are already 'making your mark' on houston ;) miss you too.
Thought about you today at work....had several patients with "diaper explosions"! My experience was much worse!:(
I can relate with the backseat drivers... I ran over a curb yesterday and Kaylie said "uh oh"... now every time I hit a bump, I've got both kids in the back reminding me!
Enjoy the "new little house" and embrace the cultural experiences (and be thankful they're only temporary!)
